Minaya Will “Absolutely” Be Back Next Year

The New York Post was able to get some words out of Mets’ owner Jeff Wilpon about Omar Minaya.  They were good words for Minaya.

“Am I going to bring Omar back next year? Absolutely. That’s a fact”, Wilpon told The Post.

Minaya was in the middle of some controversy last month when at the Tony Bernazard firing press conference he called out the reporter who broke a negative story about Bernazard which led to the firing.  Minaya sounded foolish and unprofessional.  The team has also had an awful season and I know they have had injuries but they still could be doing better than they are.  Minaya will also most likely bring back manager Jerry Manuel next season.

I disagree with the Mets’ choice of retaining Minaya.  I think that what he did at the press conference was unacceptable and he should have been relieved of his duties right there and then.  Having Minaya and Manuel back next season will not make the team any better.  The Mets really need to clean house, start from square one, and bring in a new GM and a new manager.    I do not believe in Minaya and Manuel and I don’t think we will see substantially better results from this team next season with these two guys running the show, even with the team at full health.
