Mets Officially Out of Playoff Contention

In the back of most people’s minds, the Mets were out of contention a long time ago. Nobody needed to wait until it was a statistical fact. Mets players combined for over 1,000 games on the disabled list, a record for sure. The players that were healthy underperformed. 

Talk about getting bit back, Phillies pitcher Pedro Martinez pitched eight solid innings Sunday night in a 1-0 win over the Mets that officially put the Mets out of contention. Pedro is 5-0 with the Phillies the season since signing with them midsummer and looks like a different pitcher than the Mets had last season. He was ineffective last year with the Mets and looked worn down at times. 

Met fans do have one thing to be happy about right now; Football season.
