Eli Manning was able to put his sore heel to rest before halftime. The game was already in hand before the half and Eli gave the ball to backup quarterback David Carr. Eli went 8-10 for 173 yards and two touchdowns.
The Giants scored touchdowns on their first four possessions and rolled over the Raiders by a final score of 44-7. The Giants defense overpowered the Raiders sacking JaMarcus Russell six times and forcing three fumbles. The Raiders only were able to muster 124 yards of total offense against the Giants defense.
After the game Mathias Kiwanuka said, “We thought it was an opportunity if we came out and got after him early, there would be a lot of chances. He has flashes of greatness but we wanted to make sure he didn’t flash against us.”
About starting and scoring early Eli Manning said, “At the end, it was picture perfect. Just get in there and score, score quickly, score a lot and then rest it and make sure you don’t put more strain on it or make it more sore tomorrow. It turned out really well.”
The Giants are now 5-0 and will travel to New Orleans Week 6 to face the Saints.
