Sabathia Will Pitch Game 4 on Short Rest

The Yankees have decided that CC Sabathia will pitch game four of the ALCS on three days rest. Sabathia pitched eight solid innings in the Yankees’ game one win over the Angels. He’ll get the ball Tuesday night in Anaheim to see if he can continue his success this postseason.

“We’re comfortable with him going on short rest,” Joe Girardi said. “He’s had success going on short rest. If you look at last year’s numbers, we’re comfortable doing it. He feels good, and we’re going right to CC.”

The Yankees haven’t pushed Sabathia to pitch on short rest at all during the regular season but turn to him on three days rest here in the postseason. Sabathia is used to working on short rest as he did it often at the end of last season with the Brewers and led them into the postseason before getting knocked out by the Dodgers in the NLDS.
