The Jets losses this season have been blamed on collapses of their offense and defense. One week the Jets defense would look awful and the next week the Jets offense would look awful. The Jets special teams must have felt left out because they looked awful in the Jets’ week 8 loss to the Dolphins. The Jets kickoff team allowed Ted Ginn Jr. to return two kickoffs for touchdowns as the Dolphins beat the Jets 30-25.
Down by five, the Jets had a chance to take the lead in the final minutes of the game but couldn’t convert on a fourth-and-13 in the red zone. Mark Sanchez threw an uncatchable ball in the back of the end zone instead of throwing it somewhere a Jets receiver at least would have a chance to catch it. You’d rather see him throw an interception there trying to get the ball to a receiver rather than not throwing a catchable ball.
Other than a Shonn Greene fumble which was returned for a touchdown by Jason Taylor, the offense played pretty good. The Jets defense really stood out. The Jets defense held the Dolphins to just 104 total yards and just 52 rushing yards. They shutdown the wildcat and put pressure on the quarterback.
It didn’t matter. Ginn’s two kickoff returns and the Taylor’s fumble recovery for a touchdown were enough to give the Dolphins the win. The Dolphins’ offense didn’t touch the field from the end of halftime until under two minutes left in the third quarter. Those three Dolphin touchdowns came in that time span.
The Jets go into their bye week with this ugly loss on their mind.
