The Mets are happy the World Series is over so they can move on to business for 2010. The Mets have made news the day after the World Series by declining their $9.1 million option on reliever JJ Putz, this according to Bart Hubbuch of the NY Post. The Mets will pay $1 million to buy him out.
In his first and only season with the Mets, Putz had a 5.22 ERA in 29 appearances and a 1-4 record. He had right elbow surgery in June that ended his season.
