Yankees Win World Series

For the 27th time in franchise history, the New York Yankees are the World Series champions. The 2009 season was owned by the Yankees and they received contributions from all of their players. In a complete team effort, the Yankees have ended a nine year drought and take home their first championship since 2000.

It took the Yankees six games to beat the Phillies and were able to clinch the series in front of the home crowd in the Bronx.

Hideki Matsui was crowned the MVP of the 2009 World Series and led the Yankees in game six with six RBI on three hits.
