Good thought. Another attraction to Texas is that there are no income taxes. The Rangers can use this to their advantage. Texas has the hitters and is starting to put together a decent rotation. Lackey would step in as their ace and could also mentor the younger guys. If the Rangers decide to spend some money in free agency, Lackey should be their number one target. Lackey may be out of their price range though and that's too bad.

Interesting thoughts on this year's free agency. The one team that everyone has discounted with regards to John Lackey is Texas. Think about it for a moment......Why wouldn't Nolan Ryan as GM for the Rangers go after Lackey? Lackey is a Texan and I think the Rangers will offer him huge money. Texas is a contender and stayed right with the Angels all year long. Biggest question for them is who do they acquire to compete with Angels. Answer: what better acquisition than a player with a team whom you contend with.

Your thoughts??

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Yankees go hard after Lackey and blow Mets away. Then again, Mets may be desperate since they haven't had a parade since the advent of the wheel.
