ESPN Zone in Times Square is holding their eight annual Ultimate Coach Potato competition. This is a dream for all sports fans; sit on a comfy couch, watch continual sports, enjoy being in the presence of fellow sports fans, and eat… a lot. The following is information on the competition from ESPN Zone:
ESPN Zone is currently taking entries for its third annual Ultimate Couch Potato competition, scheduled for Jan. 1, 2010. In a nut shell, four sports fanatics from New York will square off in a competitive sitting competition on New Year’s Day to see who can watch the most continuous hours of televised sports (bathroom breaks only once every eight hours and no sleeping allowed). Entries close on Dec. 9.
Here’s the press release with all of the details on how to enter and prizing (winners get a recliner, free cable for a year and a $1,000 toward the ultimate home sports theater). To enter, potential couch potatoes have to email couchpotato@espnzone.com with 200 words or less describing why they have what it takes. For more, you can also check out http://espnzone.com/newyork/.
Also of note: Two-time winner Stan Friedman (below) – a research librarian from Manhattan – will return to defend

Thanks for the shout out! Fyi, it’s the 8th year for the Chicago version of the contest. It’s just year 3 for the Times Square event.
Cheers,
Stan
