Although nothing is finalized, the Mets and Japanese pitcher Ryota Igarashi have reached an agreement on a two-year deal. Igarashi gives the Mets help in the back end of their bullpen where the departures of Billy Wagner and JJ Putz left holes.
The Japanese reliever is 30 years old and posted a 3.19 ERA in 56 appearances with the Tokyo Yakult Swallows last season. He is projected to be the Mets’ setup man.
