Another day further into the Giants offseason and another defensive coach gets the axe. Two days after the Giants fired defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan, they have announced the firing of defensive line coach Mike Waufle.
Waufle was a favorite of the players and was with the team since 2004, Tom Coughlin’s first year with the Giants.
On Monday, Giants co-owner John Mara told the AP, “What I didn’t expect was and probably the biggest area of disappointment was the lack of pressure on the passer. We thought that would be our strong suit coming into the season. For whatever reason we didn’t generate consistent pressure on the quarterback. And I think that hurt us tremendously this year.”
