Knicks Lose by 50 to Mavs

When it rains it pours. Just ask Mike D’Antoni. He’ll agree. The sputtering Knicks did nothing right in their 128-78 loss to the Mavericks Sunday. Horrible defense and poor offense led to the dismantlement of a Knicks team that is fighting to remain in the playoff hunt.

The 50-point loss Sunday is the second worst loss in New York Knicks franchise history. The Mavs’ lead was only 16 at halftime, but they came out scorching in the third quarter and didn’t look back. They outscored the Knicks 38-13 in the quarter. Seven Mavs scored in double digits, including all five starters.

Chris Duhon’s woes are snowballing and Mike D’Antoni should think about sitting the point guard. Depending on the relationship between D’Antoni and recently written off guard Larry Hughes, D’Antoni should go to Nate Robinson, Toney Douglas or Hughes over Duhon. Duhon isn’t even dishing the ball well and he’s in the middle of a bitter cold shooting spell, although he hasn’t shot the ball well at all this season.

The Knicks are in a downward spiral after having a fantastic December. They are 2-6 in their last eight games and are hoping they stop the fall soon.
