Pat Hanlon of the New York Giants has reported that linebacker Antonio Pierce is out indefinitely with a bulging disc in his neck. The Giants have ruled Pierce out for Sunday’s game against the Falcons. An MRI revealed the bulging disk today. The initial injury dates back to the Giants game against the Cardinals on October 25.

Pierce said in a statement released by the Giants, “I’m shocked with what I heard from the doctors this afternoon. I had no idea that what happened a few weeks ago could keep me off the field. I didn’t think it was that serious. I’m going to do everything the doctors tell me to do so I can get back out on the field as soon as possible.”

Aaron Ross is back and should be active this Sunday. Ross injured his hamstring back in August and has reinjured it a couple of times trying to work back. Ross was practicing as a safety with the second-team defense this week.

Michael Boley has had quite a start to his Giants career. First he missed the entire preseason with a hip injury then he was suspended the first regular season game for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. Now several sources are indicating that Boley will miss the next four weeks with a knee injury which he suffered Sunday against the Chiefs.

The Giants are a bit nicked up right now. Along with the injured Boley, quarterback Eli Manning has a sore heel, tight end Kevin Boss has a sprained ankle, defensive tackle Chris Canty has a bad calf, cornerback Aaron Ross has a hamstring injury, receiver Domenik Hixon has an injured knee and Ahmad Bradshaw has a sore ankle.

The Giants are 4-0 and host the Raiders on Sunday.

The New York Giants and Jets are banged up heading into week three especially in their secondaries.

The Giants have lost safety Kenny Phillips for the season and have recevied safety Aaron Rouse off waivers from the Packers. The Giants also have two injured cornerbacks who will most likely sit out week three against the Bucs. Aaron Ross and Kevin Dockery, who both have missed the first two games with hamstring injuries, will need more time to recover.

The Jets have two cornerbacks who will not be on the field Sunday against the Titans. Lito Sheppard is out with a quad injury and Donald Strickland is sitting out due to an ankle injury. This leaves the Jets thin at cornerback. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Jets have spoke with former Raven cornerback Corey Ivy and former Jet cornerback Justin Miller.
